What do we do in OCIC?
We meet twice a week for 8 months (with time off for Christmas, of course):
1. Students start meeting in mid August mostly on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. for academic classes to help prepare for these Sacraments.
2. Then, later in September we will also begin meeting on Sunday for the 11:00 a.m. Mass and leave after the homily to “Break Open the Word” of God to help understand the passages of Scripture which the Church has chosen for that day. We speak of “Breaking Open the Word” as “BOW” for short.
3. The catechumens will receive their sacraments at the Easter Vigil service, 8:00 p.m. Saturday April 3rd, 2010. The candidates will receive their sacraments on Sunday, April 18th at the 11:00 am Mass.
NEXT year, August 8th, 2010, we will have a parent meeting with any parents wishing to sign up their children in our OCIC program. The meeting will be after the 11:00 am Mass in the AMR. Please consult the bulletin for announcements regarding this meeting.
Please call or email Dave Thomas at 281.419.8700, extention # 409, if you have any questions, or if you would like to enroll your child in OCIC.
Baptismal or Birth Certificates for prospective OCIC students MUST be turned in anytime prior to, or at, the parent meeting.
